From 8-week intensives to extra-long sessions, we’ll shape therapy to give you the time, space, and support you need most.

Cost of Therapy

I am a private pay provider, and I offer limited sliding scale rates.

Paying out-of-pocket for therapy gives you the most flexibility and privacy in your care. Therapy is an investment in your forever well-being, and without the limitations of insurance, you can decide what’s best for you—how often to meet, what approaches to use, and what goals to focus on—without needing a diagnosis or approval from an insurance company. This allows therapy to be fully tailored to your needs and to change as you do.

We can keep it focused or give you more room, whether that means an 8-week deep dive, longer sessions when you need extra time and support, or something in between. The plan is always built around what you need most right now, and it can shift as your life does.

Joyluma Services

Intakes– 90 min.

$180

An intake session is our first step together. We’ll review your paperwork, talk through what’s been going on, and get a fuller picture of your life—your routines, supports, and stressors. You’ll share your hopes for therapy, and we’ll start shaping a plan that feels right for you.

For children and teens, this session is with the parents. The session may be conducted in two parts, depending on what other providers or schools we need to collect information from to get a good picture of the situation.

45 min.|50 min. Session

$140

Adult sessions are 50 minutes, giving us plenty of time to dive in and make progress each week. Kids’ sessions are 45 minutes, which allows time for the work we need to do together and for me to reset and prepare the space for the next child so the room is ready for them.

Parent consultations are usually 50 minutes in length and are conducted in person or via Zoom.

90 min. Session

$180

A 90-minute session for adults gives us the space to go deeper, explore more complex topics, or work through challenges without feeling rushed. This can be especially helpful during high-stress times, when we’re doing intensive work, or when you simply want more room to talk, process, and plan.

Let’s Talk about Insurance:

Learn Why You Might Choose to Opt Out of Using Insurance

Why Choose to Pay Privately for Therapy?

While insurance can make therapy more accessible for some, it also comes with certain limits. Many people find that paying privately offers more flexibility, privacy, and control over their care. If you're looking for a more personalized and empowering therapy experience, here are a few reasons why private pay might be the right choice for you:

  1. More Privacy
When you pay privately, your therapy records stay between you and your therapist (unless they are required for court issues). Insurance companies often require a mental health diagnosis and access to treatment notes, which become part of your permanent medical record.

  2. Freedom to Choose Your Therapist
You’re not limited to a short list of in-network providers. You can choose a therapist who truly understands your experience and feels like the right fit—someone you can build real trust with.

  3. No Required Diagnosis
Insurance only covers therapy when there’s a diagnosable mental health condition. If you’re seeking support for stress, life transitions, self-discovery, or personal growth, private pay allows you to explore these areas without needing a formal diagnosis. Even when you have an official diagnosis, we are not limited to treatment for that diagnosis.

  4. More Control Over Your Care
You and your therapist get to decide what your therapy looks like—from the frequency and length of sessions to the approaches used—without needing approval from a third party. We have a lot of freedom.

  5. Access to Specialized Support
Many therapists who work outside of insurance offer care that’s tailored to specific needs, like trauma recovery, neurodivergent experiences, identity work, or support for highly sensitive women.

  6. No Insurance Delays or Paperwork
There's no waiting for coverage approval, no claims to file, and no surprise denials. That means less stress and more space to focus on your healing.

  7. More Flexible Options
Private pay allows for greater creativity in how therapy is delivered—like longer sessions, walk-and-talk therapy, or coaching-style support—that typically aren't covered by insurance.
